I’m the developer behind Spool Shelf. It’s great to e-meet you!
I began building Spool Shelf when I realized that I was having a difficult time keeping track of my ever-growing filament stockpile. I started 3D printing in 2017, and since then, I have amassed quite the filament collection. A simple spreadsheet was no longer going to cut it.
Years before I began 3D printing, I had interest in iOS development. Given my passion for 3D printing, and the interest to learn iOS development, this was the perfect project to tackle and merge both interests into one, and thus, the Spool Shelf project was born!
I designed Spool Shelf to make filament inventory management as simple and intuitive as I could, putting the important details front and center, while omitting the unnecessary stuff. The result is an inventory app that makes it easy to search, sort, and track what is available, what is running low, and what is on the way — turning a typically tedious task into something actually enjoyable.
Spool Shelf is a project that is near and dear to me, and I learned a ton building it. Being able to share it with the 3D printing community is something I looked forward to doing since day one.
If you’ve got an iOS device, give Spool Shelf a try — I’d love to hear what you think! Thank you so much for checking out Spool Shelf!
Happy printing! 😊
